Tikrai ne。 Kartais juk norisi kokio aliejumi aplipusio greito maisto。 。。。more

Possibly the worst book I've read in a long-ass time, but I also had fun with it。 Hear me out: the first half of this book surprised me so much I was actually fooled into liking it。 I never thought I would find Bella to be so badass and quippy at the beginning of their relationship, but she turns into a pining garbage-fire of a girl in the second half。 This book also made me despise Edward。 Absolutely loathe him。 Throughout the entire book, his go-to narrative was the classic " I'm a monster, I Possibly the worst book I've read in a long-ass time, but I also had fun with it。 Hear me out: the first half of this book surprised me so much I was actually fooled into liking it。 I never thought I would find Bella to be so badass and quippy at the beginning of their relationship, but she turns into a pining garbage-fire of a girl in the second half。 This book also made me despise Edward。 Absolutely loathe him。 Throughout the entire book, his go-to narrative was the classic " I'm a monster, I killed people, I don't deserve you, but I can't stay away from you。" "I'm a creep for spying on you without your consent all day every day, I know it's wrong but I can't stop。" HELLOOOOO??!! I was recommended this after I had mentioned I had read the other twilight books。I wasn't very keen at first to read this because it had been so long in coming out and the fact that I had read the leaked extract a while ago。 I wasn't sure if I wanted to read something that I had read when I was younger because so much has changed in my life since then and I wasn't sure if I wanted to pick up these books again。 I also wasn't sure how different it would be to Twilight and Bella's version of events I was recommended this after I had mentioned I had read the other twilight books。I wasn't very keen at first to read this because it had been so long in coming out and the fact that I had read the leaked extract a while ago。 I wasn't sure if I wanted to read something that I had read when I was younger because so much has changed in my life since then and I wasn't sure if I wanted to pick up these books again。 I also wasn't sure how different it would be to Twilight and Bella's version of events。I listened to this book via the library's audible books。 I really like the person who narrated the book Jake Abel。 He has a very mature voice, which is great as Edward is supposed to be 104 years old, even though he looks 17。 He was very easy to listen to as Edward and I could really imagine him as Edward Cullen。 It did take long for me to be totally engrossed by the book。I was amazed by how much detail there was and how much there was to Edwards perspective of things。 Things that when I read Twilight I had questioned at the time but had forgotten。 Also we find out a lot more about the Cullen family as a whole。 I also found myself remembering things that were in the film but actually weren't in the book, which was great as I had forgotten how much better the book was to the film。 All in all it was a great book。 I am glad I read this even with my misgivings。 It puts a whole new perspective on the books one which actually really enjoyed。 。。。more

I didn't want to hate read Midnight Sun, but that's what happened。 I was looking for a trashy romance and I thought I might actually enjoy this one because I assumed it would be better than Twilight。 It's not。 There are some fundamental problems with the novel and it's just。。。 not good。 First of all, it's WAY too long, and now that I reflect on the story, I really just don't know how it's over 600 pages。 It's such a bloated story and it's really quite boring, and the fact that everyone already k I didn't want to hate read Midnight Sun, but that's what happened。 I was looking for a trashy romance and I thought I might actually enjoy this one because I assumed it would be better than Twilight。 It's not。 There are some fundamental problems with the novel and it's just。。。 not good。 First of all, it's WAY too long, and now that I reflect on the story, I really just don't know how it's over 600 pages。 It's such a bloated story and it's really quite boring, and the fact that everyone already knows how it goes doesn't help。 So of course, my review has to be extra long and pointless, just like the book :)Imagine Twilight but the abusive love interest is supposed to not be abusive (but he's exactly the same)。 Imagine Twilight but the narrator is insufferable and makes everyone else unsufferable。 Imagine Twilight but the charming portrayal of a surprisingly average high school experience is totally abandoned and replaced with unrelatable angst and annoying commentary。 Thanks Edward! I've had enough of your thoughts! The purpose of Edward's internal monologue, and this whole book really, is to justify the dubious parts of the story in the first book。 That is to say, Meyer tries to make it believable that the most handsome man on Earth would like Bella。 So Edward spends all his time gushing about how Bella is actually not like other girls and how deep she is。 Unfortunately, constantly being told how complex a character is doesn't automatically make them well-developed。 And constantly being told how unusual she is for doing things like not wearing makeup and looking up when it rains does NOT actually make her unusual。 No matter how hard Meyer tries, she can't make Bella unique, and yet she persists。 The thing is, Bella works better without any personality。 She's meant to be a basic bitch that any reader can erase and replace with themself。 And that doesn't need to change - I'm pretty sure I criticised that when I first read Twilight, but honestly, it's a choice and it works for the series, plus the fans like it。 There's just some things about Twilight that aren't great, but that doesn't mean they should be changed。 What I actually liked about Twilight was that it felt genuine in some way, mainly in its portrayal of small-town America and interpretation of school life。 We're robbed of that, and instead we see a small town through the eyes of a vampire boy, and of course this perspective won't feel as genuine。 I'm not saying Stephanie Meyer is an awful writer, but she can't make the scenes in normal daily life work particularly well from Edward's point of view。 The vampire scenes? They're fine, a bit ridiculous because, y'know, it's Twilight and the vampires sparkle, but there's nothing wrong with them。 The problem is that meshing the vampire side of the story with what really is Bella's story just didn't end up working that well, in my opinion。 If you're reading Twilight for the vampire worldbuilding (which I doubt you are), you'd probably like this, because naturally we follow Edward as he goes about his regular vampire business and get more of his story。 If you're in it for the Cullen siblings though, there's curiously little here for you。 Emmett and Esme are (as always) barely characters, Rosalie is a little more unbearable, Carlisle is still a daddy, and Jasper and Alice are curiously absent, somehow? Alice, on the surface, plays a big part in progressing the plot of Midnight Sun。 But when you think about it, it's not her, it's her power。 It seems like she's always around, but what's really happening is that Edward is reading her thoughts and hijacking her powers for his own use, AKA Meyer relies very heavily on Alice's powers as a plot device。 Her character does very little, says very little, and isn't expanded on at all。 When she does have dialogue, it's to tell someone what she's seeing。 It's sad because she's one of the better characters and yet she's little more than her ability to see the future。 As for my other favourites, my boy Charlie wasn't done too dirty。 I actually *kind of* thought it was fitting that his thoughts were muffled, but I also don't like the whole concept that Edward can't fully read everyone, because then why is it special that Bella's vampire power is shielding? Obviously it's a common thing? Anyway, Charlie and his whole vibe has always been the most underused, underappreciated and yet the best part of this series。 There's not enough of him in this book。 I wish there was more Jacob, too, but at least he wasn't slandered by Meyer。 I appreciate that。 It's a shame we miss out on those little interactions between Jake and Bella, though。 The La Push scene was one of the better ones in the original story, and it sucks that we didn't get that same experience here, but of course it wouldn't make sense in Edward's story。 I do have one big positive thing to say: Meyer has really improved with the action scenes since writing Twilight。 She delivered with the high speed driving and vampire fight at the end (FINALLY) so now I can die happy knowing exactly what happened at the end of Twilight while Bella was conked out。 You can tell Meyer has grown as a writer, and I think she'd do better with a fresh story so that she can flex her writing muscles without having to fit it into the parameters of the old story。 If she does write another Twilight book, will I read it? Probably。 Well, I'll probably listen to the audiobook if it's 600 pages again。 Because while she has grown as a writer I can still barely stand to read this stuff :) 。。。more

The repetition and Edward Cullen himself。 Honestly, this book would’ve been so much shorter if there wasn’t so much repetition that consisted of Edward being angsty, sad, etc。 There were pages and pages of the exact same angsty lines that the author included in this book that made it so hard to read。 It was so bad that I ended up completely skipping whole chapters just so I could read the baseball scene and finally be done。 Midnight Sun broke me and I have never in my life been made to skip chapters of a book and not even complete it properly。 I pushed through my least favourite book and yet Midnight Sun was the book that broke me。 I never knew Twilight could do this to me but it did and I enjoyed reading Twilight。 The only reason this book even got 2 stars was because I loved; Alice, Emmet, Bella, and Charlie。 That’s it。 In fact this whole book has somehow made me despise Edward。Alice is the best character in this entire book and I will die on this hill gladly。 Sort of spoilers starting from here:————————————Honestly, Alice is the best character and it’s because the whole book she has been like Edward shut up and just be with Bella。 I wanna meet Bella she is amazing and we will be friends。 Which has in turn made me fully want Alice and Bella to be together instead of Edward。 I hate him now my god he was infuriating。 If you can count this as a spoiler than the entire book you will read nothing but this:Bella can’t be with me I’m a monsterShe deserves a human man not me I’m a monsterI need to run awayI’m sadThat’s it。 That’s Edward’s entire personality in this bloody book and I hated it because it was repeated time and time again。 I enjoyed reading the biology angst scene for Edward where I thought he would get some good development。 I was wrong his character didn’t get much after that point。 Sure maybe I’m being too harsh for a book set in Edward’s POV for Twilight, which is the first book in the series so maybe a lot more development is saved for the others。 Yet, I don’t care and if you enjoyed this book I’m so glad you could find the joy that I lost while reading it。 To my friend who lent me this book I am so sorry。 。。。more

I mean, it was a Twilight book。 I give it three stars instead of two because honestly, if it had been much different it wouldn’t fit in with the rest of the series。 My tastes have certainly changed since I was a die-hard fan—I am no longer the target audience。But I will say that it was way too long。 Endless pages of Edward grilling Bella on mundane details of her life (no I am not interested in the nuances of her old bedroom and all her pet goldfish, thank you) and him going on and on about how I mean, it was a Twilight book。 I give it three stars instead of two because honestly, if it had been much different it wouldn’t fit in with the rest of the series。 My tastes have certainly changed since I was a die-hard fan—I am no longer the target audience。But I will say that it was way too long。 Endless pages of Edward grilling Bella on mundane details of her life (no I am not interested in the nuances of her old bedroom and all her pet goldfish, thank you) and him going on and on about how he’s a monster and not right for her at all。 (Yes, I get that’s the biggest point of the book。 But by the 200th time of him mentioning it, I think it’s fair to say it was beating a dead horse。) And Bella? My gosh。 Her genuine stupidity was construed as bravery。 Her self-deprecation was lauded as selflessness。 Far more than Edward, they way she viewed the world was straight up unhealthy。 She doesn’t take care of herself, EVER, blames herself for everything, is totally dependent on him for all her self-esteem, defends the murders of people around the Cullens because she has SO MUCH EMPATHY FOR THEM… and all of this is shone in such a positive light。 It’s unnerving that we’re teaching our daughters to emulate this toxic behavior。Of course, that was all in Twilight, too。 But it’s been awhile, and the detail in Midnight Sun (and my age, I’m sure) really underlined some of these major issues for me。 。。。more

I read this out of obligation to my 15 year old self。 While it was interesting discovering some background elements that the original book brushed over, the narcissistic and domineering musings from Edward’s point of view was just too much。 And it was so long! Edward had the same conversation with himself so many times just as filler。 Complete overkill。
